The Rochester Public Schools pursue left wing ideological indoctrination rather than rigorous academics. The School Board is so focused on smug virtue signaling that it has appointed itself as the authority concerning what can and cannot be said or believed and what WILL be considered acceptable speech. This is Orwellian and Marxist in the extreme.
The “Government Speech Resolution” violations of the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution are breathtaking and should be completely obvious to my opponent, who, like myself, is a lawyer!
Karen, please educate your fellow Board members! Encourage them to rescind this lawsuit spawning Resolution.
Beyond the illegal nature of this horrific Resolution, there is the inherent bias of choosing and labeling who is “underserved and marginalized” and then deemed to be entitled to extraordinary additional discriminatory treatment violating civil rights laws.
I challenge you to review your unconstitutional “Government Speech” resolution. You will find that you have missed many groups of people who have been historically or currently “underserved or marginalized”, according to your dubious definition. There is no way you can possibly accurately create such a grievance list; it will always be incomplete.
Isn’t that the point? When you are constantly dividing people based on immutable characteristics, what result do you expect? You are fomenting division while preaching inclusion (and those 2 other words).
Treat people equally! The solution for OLD discrimination is not NEW discrimination.

Contrast
My opponent has been on the Rochester School Board for 4 years. Does she really want to be on the School Board?
Barely more than a year after taking her School Board seat she was running for County Attorney! If she had been successful in that attempt, she would have resigned her School Board seat having served just 1/2 of her elected term while laser focused on seeking higher political office for the last 6 months of that abbreviated tenure.
By contrast, I pledge to be a completely engaged, full-time School board member. I will not use the School board as a “stepping stone” to seek other political offices.
Are the taxpayers and other stakeholders better off?
- Financial irresponsibility and continual appeals for more and more profligate spending says NO.
- 2023 Referendum of $100 million
- 2024 Referendum of $200 million
- Both rubber stamped by my opponent.
